brian patten

Brian Patten

Brian Patten came to prominence when Roger McGough and Adrian Henri joined Patten in a best-selling poetry anthology The Mersey Sound, drawing popular attention to his own contemporary collections Little Johnny's Confession (1967) and Notes to the Hurrying Man (1969). Armada is perhaps Patten's most mature and formal book, dispensing with much of the playfulness of former work. He has also written comic verse for children, notably Gargling With Jelly and Thawing Frozen Frogs.

“My old site limped about in limbo for a year and needed something more than a spring-clean. If you want something fresh from someone who’ll listen to what you want and offer suggestions rather than try to impose their own ideas, Paul’s your man” BRIAN PATTEN

I don't know where to begin to tell you how delighted I am with the website you created for me - it has far exceeded my best expectations.  I am so grateful for your creativity, your experience and your wise advice.  I think what I have been most appreciative of however, is your patience with me; the number of times I changed my mind about content, layout and style would have had most web designers tearing their hair out - but you just calmly made the changes while still keeping your charges to a reasonable level.  I am full of admiration for the sheer professionalism that produced this result and I might add, the positive comments I have had from friends, colleagues and strangers logging on the site reinforce my own opinion that you are the best in the business!
